GUILLERMO HERNÁNDEZ – GARCÍA

 

My work is related to computer modelling of groundwater flow through the use of available and self-developed computer codes. The general methodology has an interdisciplinary approach that includes the analysis of topographic and geological framework. The domain, includes hidrogeological data from pumping tests, hidrogeochemical and isotopic information, as well as geophysical information, from where parameters of the boundary conditions to the model we also devised. This work has permitted to define the nature of different groundwater flows incorporating abstraction boreholes from where the scientific administration of groundwater may be achieved. Investigation results have contributed to the understanding of flows, sources nature and mechanisms related with the connexion of groundwater among different surface basins. Recently the use of transport modelling is starting to be included in our hidrogeological analysis, incorporating the social implication of groundwater usage. Teaching of computer modelling in hydrogeology related courses and developing models in groundwater issues have been part of my major responsibilities at the National University of Mexico.
